Eric is always great at these types of Q's.

to add, support,

i second the motion in regards to the I4. engine over the drive wheels is good enough in the snow. so the I4 will be fine. and you don't need torque in the snow. one needs slow steady apps of torque. not brute force.

I would go with the v6 they're usually more mpg friendly and have more power which makes the car drive smoother.

You can test drive them both and see which you prefer. For snow, smaller engines are generally preferred because they make it easier to maintain traction. The 4-cylinder in the Venza is no slouch. It's a 2.7L that produces 181 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque. With the 6-speed automatic, the 2.7 gets the Venza to 60 mph in a spirited 9.3 seconds.

The Venza with the 3.5L V6 is downright fast, bringing the car to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds at the expense of about 1 mpg overall. The price increase for the V6 is pretty modest, at $370.

I would personally choose the 2.7L I-4 because my priorities are fuel efficiency and low cost, but the choice is up to you.
