Thumbs to Thomas E. Toyotas in general are exceptional cars but the 4 cylinder Camry is easily the best blend of everything you could ever want in a car. While I haven't heard very many good things about the current one, it's predecessors have always been top notch cars, especially 4 cylinder models from 1987-2001. You would be hard pressed to find a more reliable car that is as well built, as easy to service/repair, as economical on gas, as practical, and is as comfortable as Camrys from those years. 2002 -2006 models were not as good but still good. However, later models don't seem to be as well made nor as reliable. If you've owned a 4 cylinder Camry from those years, it's hard to find a car that will please you. They were that good. compare a 1994 4 cylinder Camry to a 2013 Camry. The fit and finish is even better in the 1994 than in the 2013 and the components seem to age really well. Sure the newer ones have a lot more to offer but for all around car, the older one was just better.

For all around economy, comfort and utility the 4 cylinder Camry is best. If you want larger get the Avalon. if you want smaller get the Corolla. Lexus is also a "Toyota car". so all kinds of good ones there.
