Thousands have reported this driving issue. Do you feel the power steering is a safety issue on the new 2009 and newer Corolla's? http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1d0fdf

Yes. The steering on my new Corolla is HORRIBLE on the high way. Unless I pay constant attention, and don't move my arms on the wheel, it will veer off the highway at 60 miles per hour in seconds. It's a disgrace. And Toyota pretends the problem don't even exist. I have never had a more horrible high way driving experience. I am exhausted by the time I get off the free way because it takes so much attention and focus to keep it on the road. Now, whenever I see a new Corolla, I prey there is not a drunk driver in it, because the car can barley be driven sober, let alone under the influence of any substance. Your Edmund's web link was very helpful concerning this issue, and it greatly enlightened me as to why my new Corolla wanders all over the highway like an insect being blown in the wind. Toyota Corolla...never again.

Well I bought a new Corolla for gas mileage to go on gigs with the band. It's a great car except the it does steer badly at higher speeds. It's as though the front end can't seem to adhere to the road while the back end does. Very weird. But other than that it's a great car as long as you don't go over 50 mph. Hey look on the bright side, the bad steering in your Corolla will force you to drive slower so you save more gas! ..Actually I hate the cheap plastic and very poor quality seat material more than the cars uncontrollable wander on the highway. I guess I should have went with a Civic, everyone who has one loves it and is satisfied.

Yes it does. It really drives like so crappy on the highway and my arms get sore driving it because I have to keep them so stiff on the wheel so it won't swerve into the other lane. I hate driving it, and now prefer to drive the Honda Civic to work. It really drives much more safely than the Corolla....and yes I think this is a safety issue. The car is simply unstable to drive. I plan on getting rid of it. ( anyone need a used Corolla for cheap?) lol..Really it's my own fault, I was warned that Corolla's drive horrible on the highway because of the cheapened electronic steering, but I didn't believe Toyota would do that to people...how wrong I was.
