good buy! they should go for at least 200k with out a major breakdown. probably 250k. i'm not sure what common problems are although if i had to guess, it would just be what most cars lose then. like the waterpump etc. if you take good care of it ,i t will greatly increase teh lifespan

I had it before. It lasted over 20 years!!! Japanese cars like Toyota and Honda last long but Toyota is better than Honda. The engine never got loud when it pasted the time of 20 years and a Ford would make plenty of roaring noises. The Celica is a compact car which is very good. Good Luck!

In 1994 my dad bought me a 1988 Toyota celica convertible. I LOVED that car! It didn't look like an 88. I traded it in, in 2000 I think. It had started to need work.

Celica is way better than an eclipse...you won't be paying as much insurance for a celica as you would for an eclipse

I don't have a Celica, but I have and do own many Supras, which are almost the same car. Toyotas are very good cars overall and depending on how they where taken car of by the previous owner they can last around 200k miles!!

Don't let the bitter Detroit union hacks fool you. The Toyota Celica is a very good car. You should get 150,000 out of it without any big repairs, and 250,000 miles if you're willing to spend a few hundred on maintenance.

I've owned 3 Celicas - a 1975, a 1987 converticle and a 1992. All of them rand like champs and sold for good money. I had a little trouble with electric window switch on the 1987, replaced the alternator early on the '92.

You just wasted your money is what you did! They are junk, they are old and your wheel bearings are going to go out on you any day now!
