I have narrowed it down to these 3 SUV

Toyota highlander
Toyota rav4
Honda crv

I need a SUV that is good on gas ( 20 mpg of more preffered) very reliable as in will last forever of at least. A very long time with little problems and won't break down often.

I know the highlander is bigger of the 3 and because of its size equals slightly less mpg.

What does both toyota and honda have for reputations ? Are they reliable and good vehicles?

Opinions on these makes and models?

Is toyota a good brand reliable and good mpg off the highlander and rav4

Based on the fact that you are considering a Toyota Rav4 and a Honda CRV and the fact you are looking for reliability I am very very surprised you do not have the 2014/15 Subaru Forester on that list being that it is rated the number 1 SUV in that segment and gets a whopping 32 MpG to boast with All Time All Wheel Drive, rated the safest vehicle among those you've mentioned, better visibility, known for reliability, and is actually the first SUV ever (1997) I live in a severe climate area and the Subarus last. Many of the Subarus have over 200k miles and still going. Made manufactured engineered completely in japan vs honda and Toyota who both manufacture their vehicles in Mexico. Not to mention that after the millions of Recalls on Toyota Hyundai past them as most reliable manufacturer this year but you still have Toyota on the list for reliability? Test drive a Subaru Forester you'll be very happy. Consumer reports ranks the Subaru Forester #1 and Honda CRV #2

Toyota used to be reliable, now it is NOT. Keep that in mind. Aside from recalls, they keep enlarging the bodies of newer vehicles but never even upgrading their engines, which sacrifices performance. And when will the Fortuner get all 4 disc brakes?

You can't go wrong with any of those 3 you stated. Hondas and Toyotas are the most reliable vehicles you can buy. Just pick one that suits your needs the best. You can't go wrong with either brand.
