if you are already having Toyota Camry then go for Corolla If you have driven the previous generation Corolla Altis, then this one will impress you with its advanced driving dynamics. The sedan has been presented in a never-seen-before avatar while retaining the same powerhouse under hood but improving its drivability in both - petrol as well as diesel guises. The CVT transmission is a blessing-in-disguise for those who put convenience over all else.

Corolla and Camry are good first cars, depends on factors you want too.
If you want to have a bit of excitement driving, find a stick shift which is fun and also give better gas mileage.

Your parents have good taste.
Honestly from a reliability standpoint Toyota's and Honda's are at the top, they can last 300,000+ miles if maintain properly.
Very great on gas compare to American brands like (Chevy,Dodge,KIA etc...)

Excellent cars. Can't go wrong with them. Even the worse oil burners they threw every while and then go beyond 300k kms. You just can't go wrong with them.
