Compared to any stock shifter on a manual car, does a short shifter required increased effort to change gears or is it the same or not noticeably different? Thanks

Whens it comes to effort its shouldn't change it much. When I put in my short shifter i only used the grease that was present from the factory and made sure I oiled it before installing. The only thing I do recommend you pay attention to is if you do install your shifter that you pay attention to which gear your in. It can make it difficult to find you proper gear while shifting. You should practice using it as much as you can before doing anything other than normal driving. You can easily miss a gear or even go into the wrong gear if you are not use to it

They dont really require extra effort, as long as the ball joint is properly lubricated. if your stock shifter is already slightly stiff, then getting a really short shifter will make a difference in effort needed. in my experience, it was alot easier and faster. i installed my own and used a ton of white lithium grease. didnt have any problems and i had around a 45% throw reduction

They just shorten the your hand's distance to change gears. It still depends on the shifter! A Husrt won't go past the proper distance to shift the trans. They have a stop adjustment on shift levers to get proper throw so you don't bend a trans. fork. Pay more attention to that first. Good old school racers, can get better ETs becausduiew know how to adjust them.
