The two vehicles are amazingly similar. It comes down to personal choice. Go drive both of them, compare features, costs, and options. Go with the one that "feels" like the right one for you.

My mother was making this same decision back in 2008. She ended up choosing the Rav4 over the CRV mainly because of looks.

I have driven both. The Rav 4 is also larger and has a bit more rear seat space. I prefer the interior and exterior design. But my mother complains about the ride quality and the suspension problems. It keeps making weird suspension noises. Pops, creaks, etc. The dealership keeps telling her that it is normal for small SUV's to make these noises.

I originally prefered the CRV because I like the way it drives.

Also, with a budget of $25,000, you can buy the brand new redesigned CRV. 2011-2012.

Used 2007-2010 CRV's and RAV4's are $15,000-18,000.

For that budget you might as well get a new one. Just get good financing. But if used is what you want. I think both are pretty good.

My brother drives a CRV. It's really matter of styling. My family only drives Toyota's and Honda's with ocassional Fords.

To really decide you should test drive both of them. and make them a good offer. Try to go below or at blue book.

Then walk away... say this is my number. See if they will bite. after about a week if you put in a very reasonable offer. You'll be happy/']

Three weeks ago I actually considered a RAV4 (Sport) and a CRV. I decided (wisely) to purchase a 2012 Toyota Prius Three. The basic cost is in your price range.

The RAV4 was too costly to drive. The Prius (Three) has larger styling than the Prius C. I was able to purchase a hatchback because the hybrid engine allows for much more storage than conventional hatchbacks, so I didn't need a wagon. The best part is my lowest MPG so far has been 52.9 (drove 4 blocks with stop signs and traffic lights) but as high as 100 MPG!

The Prious-5 is a wagon, but I didn't see much difference in storage between the Three and Five. The Prius Three rear window was my only drawback, but I've become accustomed to it already. The Prius has many "standard" options that you'd pay extra for on other cars. I live in the desert but have had no trouble driving in the mountains with the Prius.
