I am thinking about maybe purchasing a Toyota Echo in the near future, but want imput from people who have owned, do own, or know someone who has experience with the Echo. I have no desire to buy a dogged out car. Thank you!

if i was you i would rent one before you buy one just to make sure that you will like that type of car , i bought a small car that i thought was going to be great to find out it was uncomfortable and to low to the ground when i got out , i felt like i was looking in to every ones tail lights when i drove it and I'm not a small man , if your going to buy a car make sure that you will enjoy it that's a lot of money to spend to not like it and be stuck with payments if that's the way that you are going

I am the proud owner of a 2001 Toyota Echo, and I'm very pleased with it. It's one of the most fuel efficient conventional cars on the market, it's great on mileage, still working smoothly with no problems after 110,000 km on the road. My spouse is 6'5" and he fits alright, and I find that I've got plenty of space at 5'7".
The one thing I would change if I had the time or interest would be that I wish it had a cd player instead of a tape deck, but you can get them from the manufacture with a CD system instead, or just look for a pre-owned one that comes with it.
I previously owned a 1996 Geo Metro that died quickly after the 130,000 km mark, so after that, it really made me value the reliability of the Echo.

i have friends that owned one. they bought it so the dad could drive it to work and the teen could take the camry to school. its fine as basic transportation if you can find it at a great price. now there are many other things that are better. in its favor, it does have an unrealistically large interior, although the truck is kinda small. and it is a toyota so it is reliable. it was not designed for the us market but they brought it here anyways.
others to consider, scions actually on the same platform, hyundai accent(not a good choice except for the new one), kia rio (same as accent) or even a toyota corolla or honda civic.
